As mentioned on our Adverse comments by judges about certain workcover independent medical assessors page, diary of a workcover victim does not aim to defame, slander or otherwise cause dis-reputation to those IMEs who have been subjected to adverse comments in Court. Rather, aworkcovervictimsdiary aims to empower injured workers through support, education and advocacy.
For many injured workers, it is easier to understand the problems so many face with workcover agents (insurers) and certain workcover independent medical examinations; the discrepancies in opinions, the problems with the AMA Guides when it comes to attributing a percentage impairment rating to injuries; the tendency for bias; the incomplete or selective relevant medical information given to workcover IMEs by referrers such as workcover agents; and so much more – by publishing material, such as worker’s compensation legal cases. Just reading a couple of workcover cases will help any injured worker nor only understand the issues encountered with workcover insurers, IME doctors, but injured workers will also have an idea of the court process and how medical evidence is gathered and chosen by Judges.
