Please do write to your local MP, Senators, and other political representatives if you are frustrated with the WorkCover system! They may be of help, and the more letters they receive the higher the chances are that they will actually look into the issue and help! If they help you, don’t forget to send a thank you letter! You can also write to the Ombudsman, and quite a few injured workers have been helped out with their endless battles with their workcover agent (the insurer)! You can also start an e-Petition and submit it to the Australian Parliament!

How to write a letter to your local MP
Here is some information to help you write to politicians and bring attention to the issue.
As you write your letter, consider asking for what you need, tell your story and tailor it to the minister/shadow minister you are writing to. Are you most concerned about funding for medical research? Education for doctors? Personalise your letter: Talk about your life before your illness: What was your career? Could disability services enable you to do some work? Did you have/are you having education difficulties that the minister could help with? Are you a veteran? Do you need help with housing? Have you had trouble accessing suitable health services (ie GP home visits)? Do you need care?
This will help you determine who to send it to; either via your local member or to the minister/s responsible for the area. You might consider writing to federal election candidates in your area and ask them what they would do to help injured workers if they were elected.
Personalising the letter will make it more likely to be read and have an impact, so if there are any other issues or questions you have, include them in the letter.
Here’s who to write to and how to contact them:
Federal senators and members:
Northern Territory Parliament:
South Australian Parliament:
Western Australian Parliament:
[Your Contact info, name, address] [date]Dear [Hon., Ms. Mr YOUR MPP],
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the [state] government’s plans to make even more changes to WorkCover legislation that neglects injured workers. We need a workers compensation scheme we, injured workers, can count on….
